A Stitch a Day aka Caroline

Picture
What do you make?
I make hand sewn cross stitch cards and gifts e.g. gift boxes, photo frames. Also seasonal pieces including Christmas decorations, back to school stationary and religious festivals. I take orders for any of the items I make which can be personalised by name, colours. I have a new service where I will sew and complete cross stitch kits which customers cant do themselves.

What inspires you?
Sewing is very much a therapy for me, both physical and emotional. I look for designs that catch my eye or where i can see what I could adapt or change the colours for.
How did you begin your making journey?
I started sewing as a child- no one could teach me to knit as I'm left - handed! It really took off when I was at secondary school, I failed textiles because I kept damaging the sewing machines so I completed everything by hand and I haven't really stopped.

What is your favourite thing to make?
I like making personalised items- picking out the right colour for someone or knowing I'm making something for someone in particular.

Do you ever have crafting disasters?
Double sided sticky will forever be my downfall - the amount I get tangled up in or it doesn't stick where I want it to.

If you had a crafting wish, what would it be?
My crafting wish would for someone to teach me to craft tidily...or just tidy for me! I have a tiny workspace and I can still find anything.

Become a Fayre & Square Artisan

Our special team of artisans are often described as a family of craft loving, community friendly people. We are proud of our team, whose talents shine through in their craft and their obvious passion for helping others.

We sell a wide variety of homemade items created by our artisans, both in our shop in Centre Court Shopping Centre in Wimbledon and online. To keep our shop running, our artisans volunteer their time in the shop. Details of what you can do to help can be discussed.

Our artisans also donate a small percentage of sales to the project in order for us
to continue to support young people with learning or physical disabilities, mental health or confidence issues to gain work experience and skills.
