Kumiko B Illustration aka Kumiko
What do you make?
I draw and write on cards, mugs, plates and other ceramics as well create wall art. Occasionally I dabble in other crafts, such as making recycled newspaper flowers. What inspires you? The world around me. Interactions with people, and nature. I love drawing animals in particular. How did you begin your making journey? Like lots of crafters I've been making things out of paper for as long as I can remember. My illustration journey started when I gave up my day job to go back to art school. It's my dream to illustrate children's books, but I have been distracted by the amazing project that is Fayre & Square Wimbledon CIC! |
What is your favourite thing to make?
My absolute favourite is my wildflower seed postcards that you can plant after use. Each one is individual, and allows me to be creative as well as eco-friendly. Recently I've taken up Modern Calligraphy but I sometimes use stamping to decorate my cards too.
Do you ever have crafting disasters?
Who doesn't!? My most common one is smudging the ink before it's dry. The number of things I've had to rip up because I've stuck my hand on the picture whilst trying to draw another bit...
If you had a crafting wish, what would it be?
Ideally, a huge crafting room with separate areas for drawing, jewellery making, sewing, card making etc. Plus the ability to keep it tidy.
